"Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion, or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle, when the sun comes up you'd better be running." Author Unknown

Running Wild

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Start!!!

Its  Christmas and all I can say is, I'm READY. Ready to start this journey, again. Determined to hit my goal, again. What can I say, I loved it so much the first time that I just had to do it again!! Not really. Last time I did this it took me 3 years to lose 70 lbs. Granted, it took me 5 years to put 40 lbs back on... I am still sad that I could not/ would not stick to it.

Even though I know how hard it is going to be, I am determined to NOT give up on myself.

I suffer from a food addiction. Most people laugh at that. Honestly, I wish it was a joke. But its not.

I found that the best way to help myself stay honest and committed to this is by journaling. That is where you come in. Please, feel free to follow along and leave a comment if you wish.

So, what is it I'm working towards? Well, I ran a half marathon 5 years ago. I was at 170 lbs and my food addiction was under control. I felt amazing.... and I want that back.

My goal is to train for another half marathon. I have not signed up for one just yet, but I will be looking for one soon! I am guessing that I will be ready around the summer of 2014.

Because running is so great for me, I am not going to put in a weight goal. I know that if I run and eat healthy then my weight will land in a healthy range.

Thats it. Two goals. Train for a half marathon and get my food under control.

Tomorrow I will start. Nothing big. I will post my beginning weight (just for the record) and my measurements (thats where it counts). I will also post my training schedule and maybe even find a half marathon to sign up for! Most importantly, I will start to journal my food and track my water.

I know that I am starting at a time when thousands of other people are making their 'declarations' and 'resolutions' but I would like to think that I am doing this for a different reason. Not just because it is a new year... but because I deserve to be healthy and to enjoy every second of my life.
